The Perfect Sugar Cookie

Everyone needs a tried and true recipe. The standby. The one you have memorized because you've made it so many times. The holidays are a stressful time, and sometimes the only thing that can make it better is the food and drink involved. This holiday season I have quite a few recipes lined up that I want to make. I've got a pretty ambitious Pinterest board with some of my aspirations and I'm planning on making a board filled only with recipes I've actually successfully made.

I thought I'd start off December with a tried and true sugar cookie recipe.

The Perfect Sugar Cookie

What  you will need:

2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder

1 cup butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350
Combine dry ingredients and set aside.
Whisk egg, butter and vanilla extract together
Add wet ingredients to the dry bowl slowly

Flour a cutting board generously. Roll the dough onto the board so that it is evenly distributed (about 1/4 inch). Use your favorite cookie cutter, then transfer to a baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes.

I'm always torn on the frosting. Sometimes I make it with confectioners sugar and milk but I never get it exactly how I want it.

What about you? Do  you like your sugar cookies with or without frosting? Leave your recipes in the comments!

  8. Sugar cookies are my favorite since I was a child, I can't wait to try these. With frosting is usually a bit too sweet for my taste, but I love them pretty much any way! Thanks for linking!
